Art Ignites Change: Introducing "Ash Crown"
Art cannot extinguish the fire, but it can ignite change. I am proud to leverage the power of digital art and the Tezos blockchain to create sustainable, impactful Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) that address the escalating climate crisis.
"Ash Crown" is the first piece in my new collection, "Seasons of the Stag." This haunting piece is a profound re-imagining of my signature logo—a burning stag crest that powerfully symbolizes devastation, urgency, and our planet in crisis. It is a provoking visual statement about the destructive and far-reaching effects of modern climate-fueled wildfires.
The Eco-Conscious Choice: Minted on Tezos
As an eco-conscious artist, sustainability is paramount. "Ash Crown" is minted on the Tezos blockchain and hosted on the objkt platform, a leading marketplace designed for artists and eco-conscious collectors.
Energy Efficiency: Tezos is renowned for its low energy consumption, making it one of the most sustainable and environmentally responsible choices for digital artists and collectors.
Secure & Accessible: It provides a secure, decentralised network for collecting high-quality digital assets.
When the Forests Burn, We All Feel It
Wildfires pose severe, long-term threats to the natural environment, starting with the atmosphere. They release massive amounts of CO2 and other greenhouse gases, significantly accelerating climate change. For instance, the 2021 boreal fires released an estimated 1.76 billion tons of CO2. The resulting smoke contains fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) and pollutants, degrading air quality over vast distances and causing serious respiratory and cardiovascular issues for both humans and wildlife.
The environmental harm extends to land and water. The loss of protective vegetation leads to increased erosion and surface runoff, which washes ash, sediment, and toxic nutrients (like nitrogen and phosphorus) into rivers and reservoirs. This nutrient spike can trigger harmful algal blooms that deplete oxygen and harm aquatic life. High-intensity fires also create hydrophobic soil that repels water, dramatically increasing the risk of post-fire flash flooding and debris flows. Furthermore, the intense heat chemically degrades the soil, destroying beneficial organic matter, structure, and the microbial life essential for nutrient cycling. Critically, the destruction of forests—which are vital carbon sinks—shifts them from absorbing carbon to actively emitting it, while simultaneously fragmenting and eliminating essential habitats for countless animal and insect species.
Taking Action: Dedicated to Relief
By collecting this piece, you are not only acquiring a powerful statement but also directly contributing to essential relief efforts.
90% of the proceeds from the sale of "Ash Crown" will be donated directly to the Canadian Red Cross Wildfire Relief Fund, supporting those severely affected by these climate events.
“Ash Crown” – A haunting emblem of a world on fire. This animated NFT launches the Seasons of the Stag series—a visceral collection from Rosso Art & Design, rooted in the iconic deer crest, every variation offers a glimpse into a different facet of transformation—some gentle, some fierce, all deeply elemental. In Ash Crown, a forest burns like a devastating torch, symbolizing vanishing wilderness and the urgency to act. Wildfires are not just natural disasters—they’re escalating climate events with staggering impact:
Displacement & trauma: In 2023, over 232,000 Canadians were evacuated due to wildfires. Many continue to face long-term PTSD, anxiety, and housing instability.
Habitat loss & biodiversity: That same year, Canada’s wildfires accounted for 23% of global wildfire carbon, decimating habitats for species like spotted owls and salamanders.
Ecosystem recovery: High-severity fires can leave forests scarred for over a century, with some species unable to survive the loss of canopy cover.
Burned land area: In just the first half of 2025, 3.15 million hectares burned—already exceeding the 25-year average. By mid-year, 3.7 million hectares had turned to ash. Carbon emissions: Canada’s 2023 fires released ~640 million tonnes of CO₂—comparable to an industrial nation’s annual output.
In early 2025, “zombie fires” added another 15 million tonnes in just 5 weeks.
Climate feedback loop: Wildfires now contribute 20–25% of global carbon emissions, creating a vicious cycle—more warming leads to more fires, which release more carbon and worsen the crisis.
🔥 90% of proceeds from Ash Crown will be donated to the Canadian Wildfire Fund to support front-line efforts, displaced families, and ecosystem recovery.
