PIONEERING ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT THROUGH WEB3

This initiative involved the conceptualization and design of the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine's (FoM) first-ever NFT collection. Serving as a high-value prize and innovative engagement tool for alumni, the collection translated the Faculty's core Strategic Pillars into unique, minted digital assets. This project seamlessly blended the traditional prestige of academia with cutting-edge blockchain technology, positioning the FoM as a leader in digital outreach and alumni community building.

Key Design and Strategic Highlights:

  • Translating Strategy to Design: Each digital coin was meticulously designed to visually represent a specific strategic pillar, ensuring the artwork was not only aesthetically compelling but also aligned directly with the Faculty's mission and goals.

  • Web3 Innovation: As a proof-of-concept, the collection introduced the FoM alumni base to decentralized technology (NFTs) in a fun, accessible way, creating a new, exclusive tier of digital assets for loyal community members.

  • High-Value Digital Asset: The limited-edition nature of the NFTs created inherent scarcity and value, boosting engagement rates and providing a modern, tangible (though digital) reward for participation.

I, Elaine Hamelin-Mitchell, was responsible for the complete creative development, including conceptual sketches, graphic design, and final production specifications for the entire collection.

Rewilding Government: Nature-Inspired Design in Public Service

I conceptualized and guided the design of this model during my work at the Office of the Auditor General of Canada (OAG).

Inspired by nature, the design uses the metaphor of a tree—rooted in foundational values and branching into growth—to help employees navigate the Core Public Administration (CPA) competencies alongside OAG-specific work objectives.

The piece emphasizes interconnectedness, clarity, and organic growth, reflecting professional development, organizational performance, and my artistic vision.
