Virtual Classes
Mindful Watercolour:
The Rewilded Still Life
Live Virtual Class Overview
This single, immersive 2.5-hour class is an invitation to slow down and reconnect with the natural world through the fluid beauty of watercolour. Taught virtually on Sundays, this session blends the meditative practice of mindfulness with creative expression. Our focus will be a Rewilded Still Life, featuring simple natural elements you might forage or find—such as unique stones, dried foliage, a piece of bark, or intriguing fungi specimens. The goal is not artistic perfection, but deep, slow observation to foster a sense of wonder and connection. Learn to match your brushwork to your breath, allowing the medium to guide you into a state of present-moment awareness. Perfect for beginners and experienced artists looking to incorporate mindfulness into their creative practice.
What to Bring: Please come prepared with your own basic watercolour supplies. This does not need to be fancy; simple materials are best for this practice! You will need basic watercolour paints, a pencil, a board or table, an eraser, and watercolour paper. All these items can typically be found in the arts and crafts section of your local department store.

Teacher Bio: Elaine Hamelin-Mitchell
I am a bilingual, Canadian artist, researcher, and advocate for ecological literacy and education. I hold an Honours Bachelor of Fine and Studio Arts (BFA) and a Master of Education (M.Ed), graduating magna cum laude.
My artistic mission is rooted in connecting with the wisdom of nature through the creation of art. My classes are the physical expression of my philosophical work—I guide students to reclaim their innate connection to nature's rhythms, making art a practice of mindfulness and ecological awareness.
